A unique and very valuable French Louis XV chatelaine watch with agate cameos, oriental pearls and diamonds, circa 1880.
Fine cylinder movement with wolf teeth, No. 11197. Particularly beautiful Louis XV enamel dial, with blue Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five minutes numerals also in blue, and red gold Louis XV-style hands. 18K gold, à-goutte case, pearl-set bow, the gold bezel set with a row of split pearls around a circular brown hardstone cut away to depict a seated classically dressed woman, watch hallmarked with French gold hallmarks, dust cover signed Trichaud Marseille. Brooch/chatelaine is also set with a fine agate cameo, oriental pearls and diamond roses.
