A rare French verge pocket watch with date and enamel medallions Leda with the Swan and Hercules, circa 1815.
18 Carat pink gold polished case with case maker’s punch mark IHR. Silver engine-turned dial with Arabic numerals at 6 on eccentric hour dial, eccentric dial for the date at 12, two oval enamel medallions at 3 and 9; depicting Hercules and Leda with the Swan, and gold hands. Keywind, signed gilt full plate movement with chain/fusee, solid movement pillars, three-arm steel balance, and engraved and pierced balance bridge.

Daniel Humbert-Droz was born in Paris and, according to the, Bulletin de la Societe de l’Histoire du Protestantisme Francais, was the son of a marble worker from the Neuchâtel region . Daniel Humbert-Droz was active in the Rue Montorgueil and was mentioned there on February 22nd, 1786 when he had died. On March 1st, his will was published. The watch shown is possibly not about Daniel himself but about his Daniel son, Ds. Humbert Droz, around 1815.
