Rare silver open faced verge pocket watch by Marc Mertier

A very fine, rare French “Oignon” quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1720.
Silver case, decorated with flowers, with a florally engraved bezel, an open work border with engravings, a rear bell and a large lateral hinge. Enamel “en bosse” dial with radial Roman hours, Arabic minutes and iron hands. Fine full plate movement, keywind, applied, florally engraved and pierced silver ornaments, firegilt, signed, chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, one hammer, three-arm brass balance, florally engraved and pierced silver balance bridge with scene of two hound dogs hunting a rabbit.
