An important and extremely rare French pocket watch by Abraham-Louis Breguet, circa 1825. So-called Simple Garde Temps Medaille Excentrique. Sold to Count Tolstoye on March 24th, 1825, according to archive Breguet Certificate 955.
Original 18K gold case with special locking technology, middle part made of silver, spiral guilloche on the back, Breguet number 4295, and Tavernier case number 4040. Engine turned, silver dial, eccentric hour dial with Roman numerals on the chapter ring, outer dot minute divisions, gold Breguet hands, movement advance/retard slide below 6 o’clock. Extremely rare Breguet movement with the so-called Lang lever.

The so-called Garde Temps pocket watches from Breguet are museum objects and rarely appear. Lt. According to archive documents, the watch with the case number 4295/4040 was sold to Count Tolstoye on March 24th, 1825, for the proud price of 2,400 francs. A comparable watch with an almost identical movement no. 4578 was sold at the 1999 THE ART OF BREGUET auction, also only 42mm in diameter
