A very fine and rare French, quarter repeating, half hunting cased pocket watch with independent jumping seconds, circa 1870.
18 carat gold, engine turned, à goutte case with inlaid blue radial Roman numerals, reeded band, numbered and signed gold dome and slide for repeating mechanism. Enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, independent jumping centre seconds and blued double spade hands. Bridge movement, frosted, gilt, with 2 hammers, 2 gongs, 2 barrels, club-tooth lever escapement and gold screw compensation balance.
