A very fine and early Glashütte hunting cased pocket watch in a case made by Charles William Schuhmann – for the American market – and manufactured in quality 1A, circa 1870.
18 carat gold tiered polished case with reeded band, engine-turned gold dome with dedication engraving and case maker’s punch mark “CWS” (Charles William Schuhman). Signed enamel dial with radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds and blued spade hands. 3/4 plate movement, frosted, gilt, with screwed gold chatons, gold screw compensation balance, florally hand-engraved balance cock, gold lever and escape wheel and diamond endstone on balance.
