Johannes Dürrstein (1845-1901) was a German entrepreneur who established his business with his brother Friedrich in 1874. They traded as Dürrstein & Co Glashütte, selling Swiss products and watches by A. Lange & Söhne. In 1893, Dürrstein founded the Uhrenfabrik Union, which produced high-quality, customized watches with complicated features, such as pocket chronometers, tourbillons, and perpetual calendars. He mainly used premium Swiss movements, cased and sold them to satisfy the strong demand for quality timepieces.
