Extremely rare silver watch with curved band
–
An extremely rare pocket watch with experimental train winding, made by J.A. Wille in Hamburg, Germany, circa 1790. The plain open faced numbered case is crafted from silver and has a curved band. The white enamel dial has an outer ring with black Arabic numerals for the hours and beautiful steel hands. The movement is extremely rare with its experimental train winding and has a cylinder escapement.
Dial and cuvette signed.

–
This particular watch’s dial has small craquelling in the rim area, its movement starts ticking and winding needs a lot of effort, therefore overhaul is necessary.
–
The watch is technically very interesting. Various watchmakers experimented with ‘keyless’ winding mechanisms around 1800. This version is a museum rarity.
