Moyse Gevril, also known as Moÿse-Gevrille, was born in 1749 in Le Locle, Switzerland. He was the son of Jacques Gevril and lived in Crêt Vaillant, near Le Locle. In 1784, he became a master watchmaker and was well-known for creating self-winding pocket watches using an oscillating weight. His watches were supplied to various watch companies all over Europe, including F. Sestien in Heidelberg. Moyse Gevril founded the company Moyse Gevril & Fils but unfortunately passed away around 1791.
