The company Guinand belonged to the best known Swiss manufacturers of complicated chronographs around 1900. The Guinand brand originated more than 150 years ago in the small idyllic Swiss village of Les Brenets in the canton of Neuchâtel. The two brothers Julien-Alcide and Charles-Léon Guinand started their business on 21 April 1865. Under the name of Guinand Frères, they started manufacturing and sales of watches. With the advice of their cousin and customer, Julien Gallet from Chaux-de-Fonds, Charles-Léon Guinand developed and manufactured his chronograph.
