There are a lot of Matthey, or Mathey, watchmakers listed, mostly situated in Switzerland and some in Paris. This watch we classify as French, the Comp ͤ is the English label for ‘the companion’, (in French Cie.) Probably the watch belongs in style to France, but was produced for the English market and therefore was signed with Matthey et Comp ͤ.
Matthey et Comp ͤ. listed in London 1780.
