Gold watch with independent dead centre seconds

A fine and curious Swiss, 18K yellow gold, two-train pocket watch with independent dead centre seconds and 12-hour Recorder, circa 1860. Made for the American market.
Polished bezels, reeded band, engine-turned back cover with polished border and vacant cartouche, bolt at 5 o’clock to lock the seconds. Hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with two eccentric dials, the left the meantime dial and to the right the 12-hour recorder, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outer independent seconds track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. A frosted gilt movement, 23 jewels, counterpoised lateral lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, independent dead seconds by means of a flirt wheel acting on a small pinion mounted on the escape wheel arbour. Cuvette signed. Property of a Swiss Collector.
