An important French gentleman’s pocket watch with quarter repeating and calendar, circa 1820. Former property of a noble family.
18 Carat gold engine-turned case with an engraved noble family crest on the oval cartouche, a reeded band, a signed gold dome, and a pusher for repetition via pendant. Signed two-tone gilt dial with an engine-turned centre, radial Roman hours, two subsidiary chapter rings for indications of the weekday and the date, and blued Breguet hand. Bridge movement, keywind, frosted and gilt, with two hammers / two gongs, going barrel, cylinder escapement, ring balance, blued balance spring with bimetallic compensation curb on the index, and chatoned diamond endstone on balance.
