A large and heavy French pocket watch repeater with musical movement, made in France, circa 1820. The open faced case of this watch is crafted from 18 Carat gold and has an engine turned back with a ‘cartouche’, it has a reeded mid section, the maker’s punch CHI and two lateral sliding bolts to lock repeater and music. The partly engine turned dial has an outer ring with black Roman hour numerals and blued steel hands. The movement has a cylinder escapement, two barrels for the gear train and hourly music.
