An English gold and enamel pair-cased verge pocket watch, circa 1790. Full plate gilt fusee movement, finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three-armed gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator, round pillars. Signed white enamel dial with Roman hours, outer minute divisions and Arabic quarter-hours, fine pierced gold cathedral hands. Plain gold inner case, narrow rim in the middle to locate it in the outer case, gold pendant and bow, gold and enamel outer case, three-colour gold bezels, the back decorated with a polychrome enamel scene of a lady holding a sheaf of wheat, behind her a boy with a scythe harvesting, all on a translucent dark blue enamel engine-turned ground.
