Gold and enamel verge automaton with Jacquemart

A French 18 Carat gold and enamel quarter repeating verge pocket watch with Jacquemart automaton, circa 1820. Early verge Jaquemart movement, repeating the hours and quarter hours, finely engraved bridge cock, garnet end stone in polished steel setting, plain three armed gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring, silver regulator dial and pendant quarter repeating on two gongs. Small, central white enamel dial with Arabic hours and outer minute divisions, blued steel hands, high quality figured automaton, multicoloured gold figures on a blue enamelled ground, as the watch strikes the hours and quarters the arms of the figures move as if striking the bells between them. Engine turned case with reeded band.
