Very fine pocket watch chronometer in original box

A numbered very fine and rare French Louis XVI style pocket watch chronometer quality in original box, made by the Maingourd Frères in Le Mans, France, circa 1870. The open faced case is crafted from 18 Carat gold, has a splendidly engraved escutcheon AG and a very rare ‘Louis XVI’ shape with a curved lateral hinge. The white enamel dial has red Arabic numerals for the minutes and black Roman ones for the hours and pink gold hands. The movement is a very rare chronometer with 3/4 main plate, chain/fusee, an extravagant fine adjusting device, a helical hairspring, screwed gold chatons, a balanced lever escapement and a very rare Malteser mechanism disengaging and protecting the chain of getting more wound up by crown.
The cuvette, movement and box are signed.
