The watch factory A. Eppner & Co. was founded by Eduard Eppner (1812-1887) in Silberberg near Breslau. Eduard Eppner had learned the trade from his brother Wilhelm in his company, Eppner & Co., in La Chaux-de-Fonds and opened his own company in Halle in 1835. The company was very successful, and in 1869, Eppner moved his company to Silberberg, where he began training apprentices. Eppner specialized in the manufacture of high-quality pocket watches, grandfather clocks and time clocks. His two brothers, Albert and Emil, took over the family business after Eduard’s death in 1887.
