A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold three bridge hunting cased chronometer watch, circa 1899. Retailed by La Esmeralda Hauser Zivy & Cie, Mexico, elaborately engraved nickel movement with patented three pink gold bridges, counter poised lever escapement, barrel engraved ‘Girard-Perregaux Patented March 25th 1884’, bimetallic compensation balance. Engraved gold cuvette. White enamel dial, Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds. Polished case, cover with blue enamel initials. Movement signed, dial signed by the retailer. With bulletin de marche from Neuchatel Observatory and presentation case.

Constant Girard (1825-1903) founder of Girard Perregaux was the technician behind the legendary gold triple bridge plate construction, which was made with tourbillon and/or precision lever escapements. He produced a handful of such pieces between 1865 and 1890.
