Excellently preserved watch with chequered back lid

An excellently preserved dress watch, made by Chs. Tissot & Fils-SA in le Locle, Switzerland, circa 1925. The case of this watch was crafted from 14 carat gold and features a fine coined band and a back lid with a chequered pattern. The nickel plated export version gilt dial features Arabic numerals in black (from 1 to 12 o’clock) and red (from 13 to 24 o’clock), a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gold Breguet hands. The very beautiful movement is fitted with a precision lever escapement, 16 jewels and five adjustments.
The dial, cuvette and movement are signed.
