Pink gold hunting cased keyless lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 14 carat pink gold full hunter pocket watch made by Alpina, circa 1904. It has a high grade mechanical crown winding gold plated movement with a lever escapement, a compensation balance with a Breguet hairspring, and precision regulator adjustment. The white enamel dial shows black Arabic numerals for the hours, a fine outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and ornate gilded Louis XV style hands.

The timepiece is housed in a round three body, 14 carat solid pink gold full hunter case with a small dent. The case features a spring hinged front cover engraved with an interlocking decorative monogram, a plain polished reverse back cover, a fluted winding crown, a sturdy suspension bow, and a solid 14 carat gold inner protective cuvette decorated with a fluidly engraved presentation dedication reading Gustav Geitel 1879–1904 Stendal, signed Alpina.

Founded in 1883 by Gottlieb Hauser, the Alpina Union Horlogère operated as a prestigious cooperative of independent Swiss watchmakers united to manufacture high quality precision movements. By the time this pocket watch was crafted around 1904, the brand had achieved immense commercial success across Europe, registering the Alpina trademark to designate its highest tier calibres. These movements were celebrated for their exceptional reliability and advanced technical specifications, including precision regulators and Breguet hairsprings. The German presentation engraving from Stendal highlights the brand’s strong international distribution network and its popularity as a provider of luxury presentation gifts during the golden age of Swiss horology.
