Gold cylinder pocket watch

A fine Swiss rare and early 18carat gold hunting cased keyless cylinder pocket watch, circa 1850. Made for E. Meyrat, Rio de Janeiro. The case is entirely engraved with scrolled feathers, a champlevé enamelled escutcheon on the front cover and a greyhound on the back, an engine turned band. Hinged gold cuvette. Matte silver dial with Roman hours, outer minute divisions and gold spade hands. Gilt-brass movement, eight jewels, with the earliest patented Patek Philippe keyless winding device, cylinder escapement with a plain three armed gilt brass balance, wolf’s tooth winding. Signed on the dial and cuvette.
