Gold technically interesting cylinder watch
–
A technically interesting pocket watch with unusual crown winding made in Genève, Switzerland, for E. Cotte & Maupomé in Paris, France, circa 1850. The numbered open faced case of this watch, crafted from 18 carat gold, has an engine turned back with a vacant cartouche surrounded by engraved decoration. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, outer minute divisions and gold hands. The movement has a cylinder escapement, eight rubies, and an early, patented version of crown winding and time setting.
