Gold pocket watch with diamond setting
–
A Boule de Genève with diamond setting in very rare quality, probably made in Switzerland, circa 1860. The exceptionally heavy and solid case was crafted from 18 carat gold and is richly decorated with rose cut diamonds. Winding and time setting are done by turning the case halves according to the LeCoultre patent. The white enamel dial has black Arabic hour numerals except for the red 12, gold minute dots and gold hands. The numbered movement has a cylinder escapement.

The extremely solid quality of this case is unusual. The watch is almost twice as heavy as a Boule de Genève in a normal case.
