Gold centre seconds cylinder watch

A very fine and elegant Swiss, 18K yellow gold and enamel, pearl-set centre seconds pocket watch, circa 1790. Made for the Chinese market. A split-pearl-set bezel, the back finely painted with an oval scene of a courting couple seated in an Arcadian landscape, within a paillon frame on a translucent blue guilloché enamel ground, split-pearl-set border. Hinged frosted gilt metal cuvette. White enamel dial, upright Arabic numerals, outer minute/seconds divisions. Gold ovoid hands. Movement with bridges à la Lépine, engraved gilt brass, standing barrel, cylinder escapement with brass wheel, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Property of a Gentleman from Hong Kong.
