Gold engraved and engine turned pocket watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch with a matching chain, dating from the mid 19th century. It has a mechanical movement with cylinder escapement and a traditional key winding mechanism, protected by an inner copper cuvette. The white enamel dial shows thin black Roman numeral hour markers and a fine outer minute track, fitted with blued steel Breguet style hands. The 18 carat gold case features a hinged back with an engine turned (guilloché) pattern framing a central ornate shield shaped cartouche that remains vacant. The bezel and band are decorated with an engraved undulating wave and floral pattern. The watch is presented in its original fitted case from the retailer A. Gautier in Reims. It comes with a gold chain with two slides and a pretty barrette. Length: 35cm – Gross weight: 13.2 g
