Pocket watch specially made for Mascort & Bonturi Buenos Aires
–
An extremely rare anchor chronometer with a special chronograph with production counter/number of pieces register with extract from the archives and original box, specially made for Mascort & Bonturi in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Vacheron & Constantin in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1905. The 18 Carat red gold engine turned full hunter case of this watch is numbered and the dust cover is marked Fabrication Speciale pour Mascort & Bonturi, Buenos Aires. The extremely rare white enamel dial has a red production counter, an outer ring with black Arabic numerals for the hours and minutes, a subsidiary dial at six o’clock for the seconds and red gold hands. The movement has a top-class numbered anchor chronometer, a particularly large chronometer balance and a special and very fine chronograph with polished and bevelled steel parts. Dial, dust cover and box signed.

The watch was ordered by V&C agent Carassale and was a special order for Mascort & Bonturi, which was a hip fine clothing store in Buenos Aires. Chronographs with a production counter are extremely rare. We are not aware of any other Vacheron & Constantin Chronograph with this dial. The note on the dust cover shows that it is a custom made product for men’s outfitters, to measure the number of pieces in certain production processes. The counter starts at 90 and ends at 12, which means 12 pieces per minute. The division is accurate to 1/5 second!

The extract from the archives confirms the engraving and suggests that it is probably a one off!
