Pocket watch with Louis XV relief case
–
An extremely rare ‘St Georg & the Dragon’ pocket watch made by Patek, Philippe & Cie in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1895. The open faced case of this watch is crafted from 18 Carat gold and has a Louis XV relief with a representation of Saint George and the dragon and the inside also with a high relief. The original cartouche dial has blue Roman hour numerals and blued Louis XV hands. The numbered movement has a moustache lever escapement and wolf’s toothing. The watch comes with a matching gold St. George plaque in a probably original French vendor’s box with mother of pearl inlay.
Movement and cuvette have matching numbers and the latter also has a monogram and is signed.
