Gold silk lined rectangular form watch
–
A very fine and extremely rare Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel, diamond set and silk lined rectangular purse form watch made by Czapek & Cie in Geneva, circa 1850. Comes with a gold and blue enamelled winding key. The spring loaded cover of the foliate engraved and engine turned case with central graduated rose cut diamond set decoration on a translucent blue enamel ground, a short chain with a gold suspension ring and the inside with three silk lined compartments. The concealed white enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track and blued steel spade hands. A gilt brass rectangular bridge movement with eight jewels, a cylinder escapement, plain gilt three arm balance, flat balance spring and an index regulator with a pin protruding through to the dial side.
