Polychrome enamel decorated pocket watch by Pierre Morel
–
An unusual and attractive French gold and polychrome enamel open faced keywind verge pocket watch, circa 1820-1835. This verge movement watch features a silvered engine-turned dial with elegant Roman numerals on the blank chapter ring, blued steel Breguet-style hands and outer minute divisions. The polychrome champlevé enamel decorated case is a true work of art, with the rim repoussé and engraved to perfection. This masterpiece was crafted by the renowned watchmaker Pierre Morel, who recorded his work between ca. 1780–ca. 1835. The movement is signed in script: Pierre Morel/à Genève, adding a personal touch to this remarkable watch.
