A unique gold, enamel Swiss hunting-cased quarter repeating pocket watch set with diamonds and rubies, circa 1860. Probably a royal presentation watch.
18K gold à-goutte hunting case, both sides blue enamelled, wonderful engine turned enamel. Rim blue enamelled, decorated with golden stars, and alternately set with rose-cut diamonds and rubies. Spring lid with a representation of a horse, completely set with rose-cut diamonds, above a crown set with rose-cut diamonds and small rubies. Back with monogram CC, set with rose cut diamonds and rubies, and above again a crown also set with diamonds and rubies.
Well-preserved enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five minutes numerals, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and solid pink gold hands. Fine precision lever movement, repeating the hours and quarters, exquisite quality, with wolf’s toothed winding wheels. Dome signed.
