Gold open faced crown winding cylinder watch

A fine Swiss gold and enamel open pendant pocket watch with a matching chatelaine, circa 1800. It has a mechanical crown winding movement with a cylinder escapement, a frosted gilded brass plate with two visible steel winding wheels, a spiral balance, and an advance and retard adjustment racket. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals from 5 to 60, and Louis XV style hands. The timepiece is housed in a hinged gold case with a plain polished inner gold bowl. The bezel and rim are set with half pearls. The reverse back cover is decorated with a geometric pattern of red and white enamel pastilles interspersed with a half pearl setting.

The watch hangs from a matching gold chatelaine consisting of two oval medallions. The front is decorated with vibrant translucent purple enamel. The reverse features a dense lattice of red and white enamel pastilles and half pearl borders, completed by a functional removable spatula. Length Chatelaine: 13.5 cm.
