Unsigned gold watch with matching chatelaine
–
A Swiss lady’s art nouveau gold, enamel and diamond-set pendant watch with matching chatelaine, circa 1905. The watch features an unsigned gilt bar cylinder movement with a plain flat balance. It has a cream enamel dial with Arabic numerals, a gilt pearled outer minute ring, and filigree hands set with pastes. The gold case is decorated with raised, chased, and engraved iris flowers that are highlighted with pearlescent and semi-matt enamels of purple, green, and turquoise. One iris leaf on the case is set with diamonds, and the band and bezel are similarly decorated. The case bears the maker’s mark SG with a key between and a star below in a diamond-shaped cartouche. The plain polished gold cuvette, case, and cuvette are numbered 75545. Additionally, there is a matching gold chatelaine with a three-part hinged panel that is centrally set with enamel-decorated flower heads. The panel is framed by scrolling leaves that are highlighted with green enamel. The uppermost lapel panel is similarly decorated.

The dial has some slight chipping around the central aperture. The case shows some small losses to the enamel decoration, but the back remains in very attractive condition. The matching chatelaine is in good overall condition with some minor enamel loss. The movement is not running and shows some light scuffs and scratches on the bridges.
