An important, almost as new gold enamel pocket watch for the Ottoman market with political map of the Aegean on the back, with signature of the famous enameller “Chenevard”, circa 1840.

Gold enamel case, back with elaborate and detailed polychrome enamelling: map of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea with names in calligraphic writing. Turquoise coloured bezel with polychrome floral ornamentation, turquoise coloured pendant, lug with gold champlevé decoration. Signed and numbered gold dome with floral engraving. Enamel dial, secret signature, radial Ottoman numerals, auxiliary seconds, blued spade hands. Bridge movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, cylinder escapement, three arm brass balance.
