Gold full hunter lever watch

A Swiss 14 carat rose gold hunting cased keyless chronograph pocket watch made for the American market by Longines in Saint-Imier, circa 1890. The polished case has a gold cuvette and pusher for the chronograph in the band at 12 o’clock. The white enamel dial features black Arabic hours, an outer minute track with fifth of a second divisions and red Arabic five minute numerals, sunk auxiliary seconds at 6 and blued spade hands. The decorated nickel plated ¾ plate movement is fitted with a club tooth lever escapement, screw compensation balance, engraved balance cock and cam type fine adjusting device.

Ernest Francillon, founder Auguste Agassiz’ nephew, trademarked the Longines name in 1880. Until the winged hourglass logo became standard in 1889, timepieces were sometimes double signed Longines and Agassiz.
