A fine and rare French, 18K gold musical pocket watch with quarter repeating, circa 1820. The Country Dance by Prevost Freres, Toulouse. An Empire case, polished, reeded band. Hinged gilt metal cuvette. Gold dial with brushed chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, an outer polished minute ring with dot divisions, the centre engraved with a scene of country-folk dancing in a wooded glade. Blued steel Breguet hands. A frosted gilt movement, standing barrel, cylinder escapement, gold three-arm balance, flat blued steel balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant, sur plateau musical movement with 25 blued steel tuned blades and six smaller blued steel blades playing the high notes, activated at will by a button in the band. Dial and cuvette signed.
