Gold open faced keyless ladies’ watch

A very fine and rare Swiss 18 carat yellow gold, enamel and diamond set open faced keyless pocket watch made by Patek Philippe in Geneva, circa 1894. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives. Retailed by Ryrie Bros in Toronto, Canada. Sold on September 19th, 1895. The solid case with diamond set bezels and bow, the back translucent red enamelled with a central gold fleur-de-lys set with diamonds. White enamel dial with red Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost gold Arabic five minute numerals and gold Louis XV hands. Rhodium plated movement with Geneva striping decoration, 18 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, a straight line moustache lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed.
