An exquisite, representative gold/enamel hunting cased watch for the Ottoman market, Lebet & Fils, circa 1840. An 18 carat gold, à goutte hunting cased, both sides enameled, fly spring mechanism, very fine enamel painting, the excellent preserved front lid shows a very fine painting, oval enameled portrait of an Ottoman statesman with red fez and blue uniform, stylized golden brooch set with gemstones, back also decorated with summer flowers, an alpine river with monopteros on the shore in the background, both medallions surrounded by an opaque white enameled rim and golden stars on the dark blue background, signed dome, interesting cage movement with special lever, original enamel dial with Ottoman numerals, blued steel hands, rare quality, in working order.
