A very fine Swiss 18K gold pocket chronometer made for the German market, circa 1895. Rhodium plated bridge movement, Geneva striping decoration, wolf’s teeth winding wheels, gold screw compensation balance, index spring fine adjusting device and counterpoised lever. Polished à goutte case, black enamelled monogram JB. Gold dome inscribed and signed Haas Neveux & Cie Genève – Paris Chronométre No. 31804 avec Bulletin de 1ère Classe de l’Observatoire de Genève. White enamel dial with black Arabic hours and blue Arabic five minutes, auxiliary seconds and gold Louis XVI hands.

Haas Neveux & Cie left the company B. Haas Jeune & Cie by Benjamin Haas and was based in Geneva. The company had offices in New York, Paris, Cannes and Besançon. It was listed as ‘Manufacture’. In 1902 Haas Neveux & Cie won the first prize for precision in the competition of the renowned ‘Observatoire de Genève’. In 1913 the company received a Swiss patent No. 63652. 1914 In the competition of the renowned Geneva Observatory, the company won the award for the best marine chronometer, as well as various other awards, including a record award for the best regulation. In the same year, they won a grand prize at the exhibition in Bern. In 1929 Haas Neveux & Cie was a member of the jury at the world exhibition in Barcelona. 1939 was the last year the company was listed. In 1991 the company was reestablished, today this brand belongs to the SWC Company Ltd. in South Korea, previously Samsung Watch Co.
