A fine and rare large gilt, enamel split pearl-set and open faced centre seconds watch, made for the Chinese market, circa 1850. Gilt metal ‘Chinese Calibere’ movement with gilt bridges engraved overall with scrolls, balance with blued halberd-style screwed weights, glazed dust cover, white enamel dial, painted black Roman numerals, outer minute track, spade hands, centre seconds, case decorated on both bezels and bow with split pearls, polychrome enamel to the case back depicting a bouquet of summer flowers over the light purple ground, case signed with Chinese characters.
