A very fine French 18K yellow gold half-quarter repeating and chronograph hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1880. A massive, polished case, the front cover with an engraved monogram LL, the interior of the back cover engraved Souvenir Reconnaissance, chronograph button at 12. Hinged gold cuvette with inscription Médaille aux expositions depuis 1806. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost fifths of second divisions, subsidiary seconds and gold spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 35 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed.
