Gold open faced pocket watch by Terrot & Fazy

A decorative Swiss quarter repeating verge pocket watch, à quatre couleurs, circa 1760. The watch boasts a 22K gold repoussé case that depicts a gallant scene. It also has a rear bell, a pusher for repetition via pendant, a diamond thumb piece, and a large lateral hinge. The enamel dial features Arabic numerals and Breguet hands. The full plate movement is keywind, fire gilt, and signed. It has a chain/fusee, solid movement pillars, two hammers, a three-arm brass balance, and a pierced balance bridge.

Ph. Terrot & Fazy was a watch manufacturer active in Geneva from 1767 to 1780. Philippe Terrot and Jean-Salomon Fazy founded the company. Before that, Philippe Terrot was a business partner of Jean-Pierre Achard at Philippe Terrot & Achard. The company specialises in producing watches with double cases, tri-colour gold featuring portraits of women and skeleton watches. Although the watches were of average quality, they were popularly exported to France and Spain.
