A very fine Swiss, 18K gold and painted on enamel, centre-second pocket watch with duplex escapement, circa 1840. Early Summer Bouquet by Bovet Fleurier, Swiss.  Made for the Chinese market, exported via London. A Consular case, the bezels, pendant and bow decorated with red, white and blue champlevé enamel, the back decorated with a finely painted on enamel bouquet of early summer flowers on a royal blue guilloché enamel ground.

Spring-loaded and glazed cuvette fitted to the movement ring. White enamel dial, narrow radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions and Arabic 15 minute/second numerals. Blued steel Chinese hands. A gilded movement, entirely flowers and foliate engraved, Chinese calibre, eight jewels, free-standing barrel, duplex escapement, monometallic balance with blued steel wings, blued steel self-compensating flat balance spring, index regulator. Property of an English Lady.
