A rare and thin French, platinum keyless dress watch, circa 1925. A rounded bezel with a reeded band. Matte silver dial with painted Arabic numerals, outer minute track and blued steel cathedral hands. Rhodium plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, eight adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring. Dial and movement signed, numbered in the case.

Cartier was founded by Louis-François Cartier. He was born in 1810. In 1847 Louis-François was able to take over the jewellery shop of his teacher Adolphe Picard at 31 Rue de Montreuil, Paris.
