An unusual Swiss, 18 carat yellow gold Art Deco dress watch, made by E. Gübelin in Lucerne, circa 1940. A solid, polished open faced case, black dial with applied yellow gold baton numerals, concentric 24-hours in gilt Arabic numerals and yellow gold épée hands. Movement with 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance adjusted to temperatures and two positions, blued steel flat balance spring, swanneck micrometre regulator. Dial and movement signed, case numbered.
