Quarter-repeating gold and enamel pocket watch
–
A very fine, quarter-repeating, 18 carat gold and enamel pocket watch. Made in Switzerland Circa 1790.
Double body case with an engraved band with pierced sound holes, the back overlaid with royal blue translucent guilloche enamel over sunray engine-turning, central varicoloured gold paillon rosette and outer border and the bezel decorated to match.
White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock. Gold arrow hands.
Hinged movement with a full plate, matte gilt, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental cock with polished steel endplate, rack and pinion regulator with silvered dial and repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant.
Movement numbered.
