A fine and rare Swiss silver open faced center seconds duplex pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1860. Gilt foliate engraved movement, ∅ 48 mm, Chinese Tixier calibre, shaped single wheel bridge, free-standing barrel, Jacot-type Chinese duplex escapement, three-arm monometallic balance with blued steel winged weights, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Spring-loaded glazed cuvette. White enamel dial with narrow Roman hours, outer minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals, blued steel ovoid hands. Polished case. Movement and case signed Dimier in Chinese characters, movement numbered. Accompanied by a red morocco fitted presentation box.
