An early Swiss 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating verge pocket watch with alarm, circa 1800. Gilt full plate movement with a verge escapement, balance bridge, three arm balance, twin barrel, silver regulator dial and two hammers repeating on a gong. A gilt cuvette. White enamel dial, eccentric time indication with radial Breguet hours, an outer minute track, the alarm set on central and Breguet hands. The case with a guilloché pattern on the bezel, band and back, a locking device on the band for the pendant repeating mechanism. Dial, cuvette and movement signed, the case is hallmarked.

This early alarm watch is fitted with a twin barrel movement, one for the hour mechanism, the second for the alarm, both separately wound with a key. The repeating is activated by depressing the pendant, locked by a sliding lever in the band. The alarm is set by manually pushing the hand to the requested time.
