A very fine Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced center seconds pocket watch made for the Chinese market by Vaucher in Fleurier, circa 1850. The glazed, partly skeletonized and polished steel movement with a duplex escapement, standing barrel, plain steel flat balance, blued balance spring and an index regulator, key wound and set through the hinged cuvette.
White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute and fifth of a second track, outermost Arabic quarter hour numerals and original blued steel hands. The case back with a polychrome enamel bouquet of flowers on a translucent green guilloché enamel ground, the bezels, pendant and bow are cloisonné enamelled with scrolls and floral decoration. Dial and movement signed. Comes with a later fitted presentation box and gilded key.
