A very early German gilt-brass verge pocket watch with a special foliot, circa 1580. Later case, decorative, the front pierced and engraved, the back chased and engraved. Very early iron movement with a foliot, iron pillars, verge escapement without hairspring, fusee and gut string. Silver dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, decorative brass hand. The movement was probably made around 1600 or earlier. The case and dial are from a later period.
